  1. RULES AND REGULATION GOVERNING ELECTIONS
  2. By constitutional instrument the electoral commission shall make rules and regulation and or amendment for the effective performance of its function under this constitution or any resolution of the council of AMES; such rules and regulations or resolution shall be annexed to this constitution

    i). Postgraduate student who had their degree and certificate in this institution are allowed to contest for any of the positions

    ii). All officers as stated in Article 20(a) shall duly be elected by SIMPLE MAJORITY.

    iii). Officers shall be elected by members of the association under the supervision of AMES electoral commission on a date as shall be directed by SRC electoral commission

    iv). A sole candidate for any AMES office shall have sixty percent (60%) of the valid votes cast. Failure to get this percentage of votes cast shall necessitate fresh elections within seventy-two (72) hours after declaration of results.

    vii). Voting shall be secret ballot

    viii). A provisional results shall be declared by the electoral commission and unless such results are challenged in conjunction with clause in this constitution that disqualifies the one concern, shall declare the final results within seventy-two 72 hours after the elections

    ix). Non-elected officer shall be appointed by the president in consultation with the executive committee.

  3. CHALLENGE OF ELECTION

The validity of the election of an executive officer may be challenged by any member of the association who present a petition for that purpose to the judicial board within forty-eight hours after the declaration of the provisional results of the position in respect of which the petition is presented

    A finding by the judicial board that the selection of executive officers is not valid shall be without prejudice to anything done by any person or authority before such a declaration

    The judicial board shall without prejudice to any provision of this constitution decide on the validity or otherwise of an election within seven days after the petition has been received by the chairperson of the judicial committee
