  1. ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER

  2. He/ She shall:
    i) Preside over the commission's meetings ii) Have the power to regulate the conduct of all elections iii) Preside over the vetting committee iv) be appointed by the president

    v) Declare results of elections within 48 hours

    vi) Be independent in discharging his/her duties and functions

    vii) In consultation with the dean of student's affairs, the executive committee and judicial board lift ban on the association politics and call for fresh nomination for all elections

    viii) Attend AMES meeting as non-voting member

    ix) Be responsible for handing over of outgoing and incoming executives

    x) Determine the amount to be paid by candidates to commission for the conduct of such election.

  3. COMPOSITION OF ELECTORAL COMMISSION

  4. There shall be a five member independent and autonomous Electoral Commission which shall consist of :

    i) The AMES electoral commissioner who shall be the chairperson of the commission ii) Other four members who shall be appointed by the core-executives

  5. CREATION OF OTHER COMMITTEE(S)/BOARD(S)

    • Without prejudice to the afore-mentioned committees, the core executive in consultation with the executive council shall have the power to set up any other committee(s)/board(s) for the effective running of the association.

    • The terms of reference of such committee(s)/board(s) shall be determined by core executive or executive council

    • Unless otherwise stated, members of any committee appointed under this constitution shall hold office for not more than one (1) academic year.

    • All committee(s) established under this constitution shall be obliged to present a written semester report on its activities to the executive council.

    • Every committee shall, subject to the provisions of this constitution or a resolution of general members of AMES regulate its own procedure for its activities and this shall not be inconsistent with the provisions of the constitution.
