Brief Description of AMES
The Association of Mathematics Education Students (AMES) is an association formed within the Mathematics Department of the University of Education, Winneba. The association was formed in the year 2003. Although membership to the association is voluntary, all students in the department are automatically members and are encouraged to be a registered members. Currently, the association has over 1500 members.
The AMES undertake activities such as: General Meetings, Departmental Orientations & Freshers’ Forum, Health Screening, Health Walk & Aerobics, Fresher’s Akwaaba Night (FLS & STARS), Dinner & Awards Night Prospective Mathematics Educator’s Conference (PROMEC), Town Hall Meetings, and Beauty Contests (Miss AMES)
The Mathematics Department together with the association and its ICT Club has educated and trained over millions of prefession teachers across the country (Ghana) and other part of the world
